Imagine an assistant that can organize files, draft messages, and update a shared project. Which actions should it finish on its own, and which should wait for you?
A starting proposal: let it inspect and prepare freely within the task, show a preview before a consequential change, and make recoverable work easy to undo.
- Which action would you always want to approve?
- When does asking again become more frustrating than helpful?
- What evidence would help you trust that the task really finished?
Concrete examples are welcome, including cases where an assistant correctly decided to do nothing. Leave private account details out of any examples you share.
